Peta joined Believe and Achieve Paediatric Therapy team as a senior paediatric psychotherapist in August 2026.
Peta has over 10 years’ experience working as a psychotherapist, counsellor and art therapist within the disability and mental health sector supporting diverse populations presenting with complex needs. Peta provides a trauma-informed, person-centred, gender diverse and neuro-affirming approach to support individual needs, growth and goal attainment.
As a mother of 3 neurodivergent children, Peta has both professional and lived experience, bringing great compassion and understanding through her approach and practice.
Peta has worked extensively with children and understands the importance of providing a safe and nurturing space to encourage personal expression, communication and capacity building through strategic play and creative interventions. Peta provides a child-led and inclusive environment to promote therapeutic engagement, care and treatment planning, to ensure every child or young person feels seen and heard.
Peta enjoys working with children and seeing them embrace their innate strengths and abilities to develop new skills, insight and understanding. She supports children to build resiliency, self-esteem and confidence, through skill-building, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal relationships and behavioural support.
Peta has experience working with complex mental health and co-existing presentations, including trauma, anxiety, depression, attachment issues, Autism, ADHD, AuDHD, PDA, ODD, developmental/global delays, Intellectual and physical disabilities.
Peta provides a holistic approach to consider the ‘whole’ child, working closely with families, teachers and other allied health professionals, to ensure optimal care and therapeutic benefit.
Peta graduated from Western Sydney University with a Bachelor of Arts in
1993.
Peta graduated from Western Sydney University with a Master of Arts Therapy in 2014 and a Graduate Diploma in Counselling in 2015.
Peta has clinical level registration and membership with PACFA and ANZACATA.
